Tamiya 1/35 King Tiger Porsche Turret

The King Tiger, considered the ultimate German tank of WWII, began mass production in 1944, making its debut in the later stages of the war. With formidable armor boasting thicknesses of 150mm on the front and 80mm on the sides, its hull presented a significant challenge for adversaries. Equipped with an upgraded 88mm main gun, it possessed immense firepower capable of penetrating enemy armor up to 152mm thick from distances of up to two kilometers, making it a serious concern for Allied armored forces. The initial batch of fifty King Tigers featured a turret designed by Porsche, distinguished by its rounded design. These tanks joined the first King Tiger unit in June 1944, engaging Allied forces during their invasion of Normandy. 

This 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit measures 296mm in length and 108mm in width. It meticulously reproduces the distinctive Porsche turret, capturing its curved lines with an ergonomic parts breakdown for precise assembly. The kit accurately depicts production model features such as the tapered main gun, grille, and ventilator covers. Builders have the option to assemble the commander, loader, driver, and engine hatches in either the open or closed position. Belt-type tracks are included for added realism. Additionally, the kit comes with a commander figure and offers four marking options in the box for customization.
